Description

The Oneida-Herkimer-Madison (OHM) Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) streaming media application allows teachers and students to browse, search for and watch videos anytime and anyplace on mobile devices. Account users have access to the newest and most highly requested videos from the OHM BOCES Video Catalog. OHM BOCES provides a wide variety of teacher approved educational videos correlated to district curriculum content and the Common Core State Standards. Videos are also rated by appropriate grade level content.
Your school district must subscribe to the OHM BOCES - Video Catalog service for this app to be useful to you. The app requires a login account in order to access videos.


Features

Browse from the home screen to see the first 15 available videos by these grade levels: PreK-3, 4-8 and 9-12.

Browse the entire Catalog using visually rich thumbnail images of all the videos.

Browse by Subject Areas using the Browse menu where you can select one of these options: All, Arts, Grades 4-8, Grades 9-12, Grades Pre K-3, Health and Guidance, Help, Language Arts, Mathematics, Recently Viewed, Science and Technology, Social Studies, Vocational Guidance and World Languages.

Search by Sub-Subject Areas:
Each video has Sub-Subject keywords assigned to it so that you can search by more detailed terms. For example, Sub-Subject keywords under Science and Technology are: Agriculture, Astronomy, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Computers, Earth Science, Engineering, Environment, Experiments, Flight History, Inventions and Inventors, Manufacturing, Paleontology, Physics, Scientific Tools, Space Exploration, Telecommunication, Transportation, Zoology

Search to browse by Producer to find your favorite vendor’s videos or browse by Copyright to find the most current videos.

Search to browse by Grade Levels: Pre K-3, Grades 4-8 and Grades 9-12

Search to browse by Age Ratings: Samples include P for Primary, JS for grades 4-12

Search to browse for specific videos by Video Id Number, Video Title, Grade Level Code, Main Subject areas, Sub-Subject Areas and/or for Keywords appearing in the Video Summary Description or Video Title.

Each Video detail screen contains a Video Image, Summary Description, Producer and Copyright Information, Grade Level Rating Code, and Video run-time, Add to MyPlaylist and Watch Now buttons.

Play Shifting – Resume watching where you left off while viewing a video.

Share videos and comments with your students, teachers and friends by E-mail, Facebook and/or Twitter.

Add videos to a Playlist for ‘In-App’ downloading and later viewing.

The app is available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Use a Wi-Fi connection to a network or 3G/4G Internet connection to login.
